About Edera
Edera makes digital and physical material for visual artists. Colour atlases drawn from paintings in the public domain —free to browse on the web— and everything that comes out of them, on paper and in wood.
Every colour in our atlases is measured on the artwork, not picked. It is published with its full values —HEX, RGB, CMYK, Lab— and with the exact spot on the canvas it came from. The CMYK values printed in the book are the ones that went to press, not an approximate conversion.
We work only with rights-free artwork, with provenance declared and verified piece by piece. Next to every printed plate there is a code that leads to its full record in the atlas.
Who it is for
For two audiences that are really one. On one side, those who make a living from art: painters, illustrators, designers, printers, restorers, set designers. They need an exact value, and they need it to be the same on screen and on paper.
On the other, those who live it: the person who stops in front of a Sorolla and wants to know why that green is that green. They do not need the CMYK, but they do need someone to have measured it properly.
The atlas serves both, and that is why it is published in full and free: the book is what you buy, the colours are not hidden.
Everything we make comes from there: the volumes, the notebooks with an artwork on the cover, the pencil sets with the measured colours of a plate, and the stationery. It is in the shop, and it is printed and shipped from Madrid.
